While multiple studies in the past have revealed the deep connection of artificial sweetness with diseases such as sugar-related issues and cancer, health experts are now calling for a ban on energy drinks for children and young individuals.
According to reports from the BBC, at least 40 health organizations working in the UK have urged the government to impose restrictions on the consumption of energy drinks by children.
As per the report, a typical energy drink contains 160 to 200 grams of caffeine and artificial sweetness, exceeding the amount found in a standard tea cup and double that of a large coffee cup. This quantity is also higher than the recommended daily intake.
Experts warn that excessive consumption of caffeine and artificial sweetness can lead to depression, severe anxiety, and even negative thoughts like contemplating ending one's life. Therefore, they advocate for a prohibition on energy drinks for children.
Health experts emphasize that energy drinks are readily available at every store and are being marketed specifically to children and young individuals as a means to boost energy or enhance vitality, contributing to health issues.
Health professionals, along with various organizations, call for strict regulations on the usage of energy drinks for the well-being of children.
