NASA Spacecraft Began Sending Unintelligible Messages Due To A Technical Glitch. Voyager 1 is 15 billion miles from Earth, and the spacecraft has been in space for more than five decades, the US Space Agency said.
Voyager One was launched in 1977, initially on a 5-year mission to fly past Jupiter and Saturn, but it has been on the move for 46 years.
It is the only man-made object that escaped the solar system's grasp. It takes 22 hours for a signal from Voyager One to reach Earth.
According to NASA, this spacecraft sends strange messages due to a technical error. There are three computers installed in this spacecraft, one computer is for recording flight data, and this computer saves the information received from the scientific instruments of the spacecraft. Whereas a computer analyzes this information and derives the desired results.
NASA experts on Earth receive the data sent by the spacecraft in binary code (ones and zeros).
NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, which manages robotic missions, said on social media that a team of experts is investigating a complication in Voyager One's flight data system, the spacecraft launched from Earth. Complying with commands but not sending usable content.
Last year, NASA announced plans to disable certain systems on Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, to extend the lifespan of the spacecraft until the plutonium that powers the spacecraft runs out.
Both spacecraft are expected to operate until 2030, after which their transmitters and instruments will cease to function.
