Research Reveals Women Derive More Benefits from Exercise in Comparison to Men

California: A study has revealed that engaging in sports is more beneficial for women than men.

The research conducted at the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California analyzed data from four million Americans.

The study found that women who exercised regularly had lower chances of premature death compared to men.

In the research, it was observed that women who exercised had a 24% lower risk of premature death compared to women who did not exercise, while this rate was 15% for men.

Researchers stated that women who engaged in physical activity had a 36% lower risk of fatal heart attacks, strokes, or other cardiovascular events, while this rate was 14% for men.

According to the researchers' estimates, the possible reasons for this difference in results could be various factors, including differences in anatomy. For instance, men have larger lungs, larger hearts, more lean body mass, and higher rates of energy-producing muscles.

Due to all these characteristics, men generate more power compared to women. However, women exert more effort to compete with men in sports.

The research revealed that women achieved benefits similar to men through exercise, but it took them less time to do so.

Women who engaged in moderate exercise for just 140 minutes per week experienced up to an 18% reduction in premature death rates. However, men had to double the duration of exercise, meaning they had to exercise for 300 minutes, to achieve these results.
