The Secret Fraud Sweeping Facebook: Stay Protected

Secret Fraud on Facebook

Facebook users have been alerted about a new hoax in which people are being alarmed with fake links of sudden death, enticing them to click and creating panic.

Experts have revealed a campaign of spreading misinformation on the sub-platforms of Meta, where hackers write posts to give users a shock by stating, "I can't believe he's gone, I will miss him a lot," and urging them to click on a fake link.

According to the website Bleeping Computer, this link takes users to a website where all their Facebook information is harvested.

According to experts, this particular campaign started almost a year ago. Since then, these fake accounts have been set up in abundance to easily deceive other users.

When a post or link comes from a friend or relative, it becomes easy to trust and, consequently, makes people vulnerable to falling prey to such deceptive activities.

Facebook is actively working on ending these unsafe posts, but the platform's response is not as quick as the rapid actions of these hoax campaigns.

However, Facebook has been successful to a great extent in deactivating the misleading Facebook redirect links present in posts, so they are currently not operational in this manner.
