How Lack of Sleep Can Spark Migraine Attacks, New Research: While healthcare professionals have previously indicated that a lack of sleep can contribute to various life-threatening diseases, it can also be a factor in causing headaches and migraines.


However, a recent study has revealed a profound connection between the lack of sleep and migraines, suggesting that individuals who do not get sufficient sleep can experience migraines for three or more consecutive days.


According to research published in the neurological journal Neurology, American experts analyzed data from approximately 5,000 individuals. Researchers examined the duration of sleep, sleep habits, age, and the type of migraines experienced, utilizing electronic devices to monitor participants.


The study included participants as young as 7 years old and those over 84 years old, with half of them being women.


Researchers noted that individuals who wake up within two hours before the end of the night have up to a 22% increased likelihood of experiencing migraines.


The research revealed that not only does the likelihood of migraines increase with insufficient and restless sleep, but severe migraines may also occur in individuals lasting for more than three consecutive days.


According to the experts, individuals experiencing severe migraines may also encounter other complications, such as extreme fatigue, irritability, and a loss of appetite and thirst.
