Consuming Calcium at Night May Be Harmful, Study Finds

Consuming Calcium at Night

Research Indicates Potential Harm in Consuming Excessive Calcium at Night

A long study suggests that consuming calcium at night might prove to be harmful rather than beneficial, as opposed to consuming it in the morning or during the day.

Calcium and Its Importance

Calcium is considered beneficial for bones, joints, muscles, and blood circulation. Experts recommend calcium intake for all individuals, especially the elderly.

Study Conducted in the US

According to a study conducted in the United States, consuming excessive calcium and particularly calcium-rich foods at dinner may be harmful rather than beneficial.

Calcium-rich Foods

Milk and yogurt are considered rich sources of calcium and are consumed worldwide during meals.

Findings of the Study

Published in a medical journal, the US study involved analyzing the health and nutrition of 36,000 participants, half of whom were women.

The participants included young individuals, middle-aged and elderly people, as well as pregnant women.

Among the participants, there were 400 individuals suffering from heart diseases, and experts compared their diet with that of other participants.

The results revealed that consuming calcium-rich foods, mainly milk and yogurt, during breakfast and lunch is more beneficial than consuming them at night. Consuming calcium at night might lead to harm rather than benefit.

Conclusion

According to experts, while moderate calcium intake at night might not pose a significant risk, excessive calcium consumption may lead to harm.
