Allegations and Legal Proceedings
Elon Musk Files Lawsuit to Halt-Free Services on OpenAI: Elon Musk, the owner of the renowned social networking site X, has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, the company behind GPT, and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging that they have deviated from the primary goal of using artificial intelligence for the betterment of humanity and non-profit purposes.
According to a Reuters report, Elon Musk filed the lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman on Thursday in San Francisco, which could put the company and its co-founders in a difficult position.
Elon Musk accuses Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman of violating the agreement by shifting focus primarily towards monetization since 2015, despite initial contacts promising public services and the company's non-profit nature.
He has requested the court to instruct OpenAI to make its research and technology accessible to the public and prevent the company from using its latest AI model, GPT-4, and other assets to benefit Microsoft or any individual.
Previous Calls and Resignation
It is worth noting that Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 through Tesla, SpaceX, and other ventures, has repeatedly called for regulations on artificial intelligence (AI) in the past.
He resigned from OpenAI's board in 2018 and openly criticized the partnership with Microsoft.
Legal experts suggest that OpenAI could face difficulties in gaining Elon Musk's trust under the agreement, but obtaining a verdict from the lawsuit might prove challenging.
