Identify Fingerprints Through Voice

Breakthrough in Technology: Voice Recognition for Fingerprints

Valorado: A new technology has been discovered that can identify fingerprints through the sound produced while swiping on a touch screen.

Scientists' new claim has alerted users of touch screen mobiles, biometric attendance, and security systems, as they enable the acquisition of fingerprints through the sound produced while swiping.

Researchers from the University of Colorado in the USA, as well as Singua University, Wuhan University, and Huazhong University in China, have revealed that this discovery could have significant implications for the biometric security systems used from smartphones to doors.

According to researchers, the technique called "Print Listener" reconstructs fingerprints using the sound signal produced when swiping the screen. Hackers could record this sound using a smartphone's microphone and steal the fingerprints of their target.

Details presented in the research article indicate that the exposure of fingerprints due to excessive use of phones can lead to theft of sensitive information, significant financial and personal losses, and sometimes pose risks to national security.
