The auction, held in the American city of Dallas, featured the edition where Spider-Man faced the Fantastic Four for the first time. This particular copy is one of two, certified by a grading company with a near-mint 9.8 rating (in excellent condition).


The Heritage Auctions sold the comic book, introducing the character in Amazing Fantasy #15, seven months after its release, for a whopping $1.38 million (making it the most expensive copy of 'The Amazing Spider-Man #1' sold to date). Before this, another copy was sold in July 2023 for a record-breaking $520,380.


In the same auction, Super #1 fetched $234,000, and All-Star Comics #8 from 1942 (featuring the first appearance of Wonder Woman) was auctioned for $150,000.
