A hacker who stole GTA footage was sentenced to an indefinite hospital stay. The hacker who leaked the footage of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 in the UK has been sentenced to an unspecified period of imprisonment in hospital.
British media reported that a London judge sentenced the 18-year-old hacker. A hacker named Arion Kurtaj hacked the game company's servers while in police custody at a hotel using just a smartphone, keyboard, mouse, and a Fire TV stick.
The young man is a key member of an international hacking group but was declared unfit to stand trial by doctors due to autism. A mental health evaluation of the 18-year-old hacker revealed that he plans to commit cybercrimes again if released.
Considering this, the judge declared the accused a threat to the public and ordered to keep him in hospital for an unknown period. After the court verdict, it will now be seen by the jury whether the young man committed the alleged crimes or not.
Another member of the hacking group was also convicted in the case, but the identity of the 17-year-old hacker was not revealed. The unnamed hacker was alleged to have stolen the data of several companies along with Arion Kurtaj and other associates of his group and demanded a ransom of 4 million dollars.
The unnamed hacker has been sentenced to 18 months in a youth rehabilitation center, during which he will be monitored while not being allowed to use a VPN.
