Do You Know the Lowest Temperature Ever Recorded?

Lowest Temperature Ever Recorded

What is the lowest recorded temperature and in what location was it recorded?

Antarctica, known as the coldest place on Earth, experienced an unprecedented drop in temperature in 2013. Scientists, relying on satellite data, made a remarkable discovery when they recorded a bone-chilling temperature of minus 135 degrees Fahrenheit in the icy region of East Antarctica.

However, more recent information revealed an even more frigid temperature of minus 144 degrees Fahrenheit, making this location the epitome of extreme cold.

These findings were published in Geophysical Research Letters, where an esteemed team of international researchers confirmed that this is indeed the Earth's surface. It is worth noting that this new record sets the bar for the lowest temperature ever documented in history.

On both occasions, the temperature readings were derived from a single database comprising data collected over twelve years, from 2004 to 2016. Nevertheless, the team obtained more precise and reliable temperature information through the data and measurements provided by the Meteorological Center.
